Ok, I know, it’s another romance novel. But here’s the thing – romance novels get me out of reading slumps and it’s not just a romance novel. This is a rockstar romance novel. Now, I know you probably can’t tell from the looks of my blog, but I love rock music and listen to everything from hair metal to death metal, along with some other assorted types of music. While I might not review horror on this blog too often, I love a good horror novel. Even better if it’s YA Horror – I don’t see a lot of YA Horror novels out there. Well, The Devil’s Tree is an exception to that rule and I’m here for it. I’m using the CAWPILE method of reviewing for this book. Characters I have to say that I found the main characters, Dylan and Kaitlyn, to be very likable. The book dealt lightly with racism and classism, both of which are shown in how certain characters interact with and talk about other characters. It also goes into a bit of how one person might think someone else’s situation isn’t as bad just from seeing it on the outside. Leslie North is a favorite of mine for when I need a quick read to settle my mind. The Sheikh’s Tempting Nanny was no exception to this rule. Sarah and Imran are both likable characters that make you want to know what they’re going to do next. Jamila and Hasan are hilarious, as are Ziad and Maryam. I found myself loving all of the characters in this book. This book is paced quickly, has a little bit of steam but not too much, and has a fun storyline. It is perfect for when you need a quick read to take a break from heavier types of books – textbooks, horror, mystery, or fantasy. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the other two in the series.
