I have to admit, I don’t like politics. I find them to be far too divisive and honestly, they get boring after a while. Which is why I have no clue why I enjoy political thrillers as much as I do. For some reason, they are one of my favorite types of book to read. Out of Crisis was no exception. An interesting mix of time periods – the days leading up to and just after a huge natural disaster and two years prior to that disaster. There is also another time period that we go through, but it is more for background information than anything else. This book gives a fictional glimpse into what could happen should a third major political party make an attempt to rise to power – and what could happen if that party did rise to power. The part in question – Centrist – wants […]

Everyday Monsters by Travis Betz

Everyday Monsters by Travis Be..

Everyday Monsters is a cute, OK read, in my opinion. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible either. Allow me to explain: I’m going to deviate from the way I’ve done the last few reviews because, well, there’s a lot going on. For one, there are just too many characters that end up being central to the story to sit here and try to tell you a bit about each one and whether or not I liked them. I’m not used to seeing so many characters that are not only central to the story, but are the main featured character when a scene changes. Everyday Monsters is written in the third person, which is a good thing, since the scene changes don’t always happen at chapter changes – or even with a dividing line. Unfortunately, the amount of scene changes in the book make it slightly difficult to follow – […]

The Sacrifice of Lester Yates ..

I know my last couple of reviews have been romance novels, but this time, I’m pulling out a mystery/thriller for you. I’ve been a fan of mysteries and thrillers for years and if you look back at my review history, you’ll see that I’ve reviewed my fair share of them. So today I’m bringing you a new one – The Sacrifice of Lester Yates by Robin Yocum. This one has been in my NetGalley queue for far too long. I’m honestly disgusted with myself for not having read this book sooner. Characters Allow me to preface this characters section by saying there are a LOT of characters at play here. I’m only going to touch on a couple of them for the sake of my dear readers not having to spend hours reading a review. Hutchinson Van Buren Our illustrious main character, from whose point of view the story is […]

Blending Chords by Amy Kaybach

Blending Chords by Amy Kaybach

Ok, so again, we all know that I don’t read a ton of romance books. Namely because I usually don’t care much for them. But there are certain types of romance books that I enjoy, and a good rockstar romance is one of them. So of course I was going to read the second book in the Blind Rebels series by Amy Kaybach. After how much I loved the first book, Bridging the Silence? There was no way you’d catch me dead not reading Blending Chords! Blending Chords is the story of Blind Rebels guitarist Callum Donogue and the woman he hires to be his live-in nanny, Arista. Now before I go any further, I feel like I should post a couple of trigger warnings because, well, they’re there – there are mentions of suicidal thoughts, sexual assault/abuse, death of family members, and kidnapping. If any of these things are […]

Hi everyone! Today I’m bringing you a very special author interview – Amy Kaybach! Amy and I have been friends for years, bonding over NASCAR (Tony Stewart to be exact) and more recently, our love of books. Amy just released her debut novel, Bridging the Silence (read my review here), in March 2022 and her second book, Blending Chords, will be released on June 24, 2022. You can find Amy at her website: Amy Kaybach, on Twitter at @AmyKaybach, and on Instagram at @authoramykaybach. Enjoy my interview with Amy Kaybach. Do you read reviews of your books? If so, how do you handle bad or good reviews? Right now, yes. Bridging the Silence is my first book so I do check on my reviews and read them. I want to know if there is something off. Or at least that is the excuse I give myself. So far my reviews have […]
