52-Week Prayer Practice for Women is a book that I expected to really like, but turned out to be just OK.

In this book, Ms. Johnson gives weekly journaling prompts, with a “monthly” prompt every four weekly prompts. Each weekly prompt covers a specific topic, includes an object lesson or anecdote, a scripture, and then several questions to answer along with a prompt to write out a prayer for specific things.

Some of the topics/prompts are quite convicting – such as going to other people when sad or disappointed instead of going to God first – while others are run-of-the-mill things we probably hear from our own pastors every Sunday morning.

If the book hadn’t been just a ton of journaling prompts, I might have liked it better. However, I am not someone who is excited about journaling period, much less journaling by having prompts.

I gave this 3.5 stars because it’s a good book, just not really my taste. However, if you like to journal and are willing to journal with specific questions/prompts, this book would be great for you.
